I'm one of those people that doesn't care much for the story of the game, or competitive battling, however, I LOVE capturing huge amounts of pokemon, completing the pokedex, etc.I'm going to 'blow up' a ROM and expand the pokemon index to store HUGE amounts of pokemon. I want to put in every respectable looking fakemon, perhaps even adding in Dragon Quest creatures, digimon, etc.Is that something people on here would be interested in? I'm not going to expand the map/create new areas or story, but I'd be happy to work with someone that did want to add that. Whole new secret areas filled with otherwise unavailable beasts would be very cool. Good questions. Here's the thing:.
I want a lot of monsters, there is no real 'limit' for me preference-wise (still researching rom limits). I'm no artist. We'd likely need more areas to house everything, and we'd need sprites + back sprites. To make it more entertaining for people having someone to come up with realistic movesets, typing and stat spread would be great. Ideally we'd have a:. Mapper. Spriter (to make back-sprites where needed/adjust front sprites). Battle/Moveset balancerI could insert the pokemon themselves, change encounter data, write pokedex entries, debug, etc.If no one is interested in helping this will just be an 'expand em all' game with minimal new areas.Thinking of a Sapphire or Emerald base.
You seem to have thought this through quite a lot. For sprites I would suggest looking at sprites ripped from games such as digimon world games and the dragon quest ones. This website could come in very handy for that.
As for movesets, until you get someone to properly do them I suggest you use a similar solution to the one used by the. This program, if you've never used it, has an option to randomize pokemon's moves but it can also heavily prefer same type moves.
I don't know if the programmer of this particular project has any libraries available but it might be worth a look.Either way I would love to try this out if you ever make a beta version:).
